The new SmarterChart 500A is one of a range of five-inch plotters, all of which will run all the features and functions of the latest C-Map Max cartography, including satellite data imagery, animated buoys and lights. Of course, most of the current generation of chart plotters will accept and display AIS data, regardless of make or model, but integrating an AIS receiver within the plotter makes installation significantly easier and more reliable -- not to mention cheaper!
