Navicom probably isn’t the first name that leaps to mind when you think about radios. And their new RT650 isn’t the first VHF radio to be fitted with an integral AIS receiver and antenna by-pass unit. Nor is it the first one to have a wireless remote control microphone that allows it to act as a hand-portable VHF (but with the benefit of a higher aerial and 25-watt output power) from anywhere within about 200 metres of the main set.
But it is, perhaps, the first to have all three, rolled into a single £400 package.
