There are
some things that touch screens are very good at. Planning a route by
simply
touching the screen at each waypoint, for instance, is simple, quick,
and
intuitive. But there are times when they can be a real pain – when
you’re
trying to make fine adjustments to a radar or fishfinder, for instance,
on a
bouncing boat. So now
Raymarine have revitalised their E-series by combining touchscreen and
conventional keypad controls into what they are calling a “hybrid
touch”
control system in their new widescreen models. And in
keeping with this theme of choice, they’ve broken away from the “any
cartography you like so long as it’s Navionics” policy by supplying the
E
series widescreens with C-Map base maps, and with the software to run
C-Map’s
new “4D” cartography – due to be introduced later this year. E-series
wide displays are available in three sizes, from the nine-inch E90W,
priced at
£2639.25 to the fourteen-inch E140W at £4594.25. |
