Simrad NSE series
The latest
additions to the Simrad range are a pair of multifunction displays
called the
NSE8 and NSE12, priced at £2499 and £3439 respectively. The
numbers, obviously,
represent the size of their screens, while the NSE, rather less
obviously, stands for “NavStation Elite”.
The
“sunview” display is said to be one of the brightest in the business,
and the
comprehensive control panel – using a
combination of soft-keys, dedicated keys, an alphanumeric keypad, and a
rotary
knob – has apparently been designed for ease of use.
To be
honest, I’ve never met a salesman who has told me that his product’s
keyboard
was designed for anything other than “ease of use”, but what was
certainly obvious
was how quickly one could zoom in and out of the embedded Navionics
Platinum
chart.
