Standard Horizon has launched what it claims is one of the smallest fixed VHF DSC radios on the market, with a front panel just 155mm x 60mm.
It’s based on the company’s waterproof Eclipse DSC Plus, that’s been on sale in the US for the best part of a year now, but this European model trades some of the distinctively American features of the Eclipse (such as access to the NOAA weather channels) for the topical – and increasingly important -- ATIS facility that can be switched on when operating in Europe’s inland waterways, but switched off again when returning to the coast ... and all without having to call on the services of a dealer or delve into secret menus.
