Digital Yacht AIS 400 and AIT1000
Digital
Yacht – the Bristol-based offshoot from electronics dealer Marine
Electronic
Services – was one of the first companies to produce a
realistically-priced AIS
transceiver. Now, they’ve become the first that I know of to launch
their
second-generation of AIS equipment.
The new
transponder is called the AIT10000. It uses the same circuit board as
the
AIT250 that it replaces, and – like its predecessor – includes an
integral GPS.
But the whole thing is more neatly packaged, and offers USB and NMEA
2000
outputs.
For those
who want to dip a toe in the AIS water without spending £529 on a
Class B transponder,
Digital Yacht are also offering a receive-only version, called the
AIS400, for
£349.95. And if you change your mind later, they’ll upgrade the
AIS400 to an
AIT1000 for the £179 difference in the list prices of the two!
