Garmin 6000 and 7000 MFDs![]() There are new models at the top of the Garmin range, in the shape of two new ranges of large-format multifunction displays – known as the GPSMAP® 6000 and GPSMAP 7000 series. Like the 4000 and 5000 series, they offer a choice between touch-screen control (in the 7000 series) and more conventional soft-key and cursor operation in the 6000s. Both ranges feature dual processors, giving faster and smoother panning and scrolling than their predecessors, higher resolution screens, along with increased networking capabilities through NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 and Garmin networks, and a PC monitor video output. The baby of the new range is the 6008, with an 8.4-inch 640x480 (VGA) screen and softkey controls, priced at £2399.99. The 12-inch version has a 1024 x 768 (XGA) display, and is priced at $3899.99. There’s no 8.4 inch model in the 7000 series: the smallest display is the 12-inch XGA screen on the 7012, while the largest is the 15-inch XGA on the 7015 -- priced at £4999.99. www.garmin.com 02380 524000 |
