Digital Yacht’s new Aqua range of marine PCs take advantage of the latest Windows 7 operating system and the Intel Atom processors, and are designed to run directly from a boat’s DC power supply without the need for in efficient inverters.

With a list price of £715.16, the base model features an N270 1.6GHZ processor, with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive, and is described as ideal for customers who want “a dedicated and marinised PC for e-mail, web browsing and office type applications.”

At £1056.33 each, the AquaNav and Aquamedia versions, have significant upgrades that are designed to adapt them for more specific jobs . In the case of the Aquanav , that means 2GB of RAM, and a 32GB solid state hard drive for enhanced reliability, built-in GPS and AIS receivers, and two NMEA ports.

Aquamedia boasts a different set of upgrades intended to cash in on Windows 7 media capabilities, such as the ability to record and playback live TV. The N270 processor is replaced by a dual-core N330, the RAM has been doubled to 4GB, and the hard drive capacity has been more than trebled to 250GB. Inputs include a built-in digital TV tuner and BlueRay DVD drive, while outputs include stereo and surroundsound audio and dual monitors.
